The Brass Uncle Band: News
Live tales - June 24, 2006
Not since Jimmy Flame and the Sexxxy Boys has the BUB seen such an act as we did this week at Staccato's lounge in Adams Morgan. Naked and Shameless made their way to Capital City from Chicago, and wowed us with a leather clad performance that included both a beer chugging contest, championed by yours truly, as well as a fantastic rendition of Elvis's Suspicious Minds. We also had the pleasure of experiencing the Stevie Izeri rock show, which included cue cards, a megaphone, sparklers, and yes, more leather pants. The Feds kicked it with an acoustic piano, and the Slow Learners got crazy. Adams Morgan is a great town, and aside from D.C.'s parking famine, we can't wait to get back. See you at the shows.
Summer time - June 3, 2006
We are still at work on the new BUB cd. We were most recently visited in the studio by our good, talented friend, Bill Jameson, who added some mandolin to the mix. Thank you Mr. Whiskey. We are not yet finished tracking, but still plan to be finished with the project in the fall. The Brass Uncle Band is currently accepting ideas for album's art work, so let us know what you think. (we are not responsible for your twisted suggestions, but we are looking forward to reading them.)
There are also some great shows on the horizon, so if its been a while since your last BUB outing, there is alot to look forward to. The Cheaters CD release party at the 8x10 on July 21st will be a truly rock & roll event. The Brass Uncle Band is also working on setting up a show with the Crawford boys, featuring Tim Byrne and the Crackpot bassist. The are calling themselves Thursday Night Special, and they are bringing down the rafters. We will try not to be strangers.
Still working hard - March 25, 2006
We are excited about the future. This weekend we are headed up to New Jersey to work on more tracks for the new CD. This time we will be in the studio of the talented Matt Angus of Black Potatoe Records. For more about Matt:

We have also been invited to support our friends, The Grilled Lincolns, during their residency at the Eight By Ten Club in Baltimore. This spring is going to be beautiful. See you at the Red House.
John Ginty on new BUB CD - February, 2006
Last week we recorded two tracks for our new CD with John Ginty, Hammond B3 organist for just about everybody... Robert Randolph, Citizen Cope, Santana. Here's his website

Red House Tavern Friday 1/20 - January 13, 2006
Last weekend we played at the World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, and recorded the first basic tracks for our new CD at The Bunker here in Maryland.
We came in second at the World Cafe "Cream of Philly" night - edged out by a local favorite who played mostly covers - so how bad can you really feel about it... We've got something like 50 great new photos from the gig, taken by Roger Miller from lucidmusic.com which you can view at his site.

As for the recording, we're working on "No Jurisdiction" and "Hard Luck and Trouble". It's good to be back in a studio.
We hope to see you all this coming Friday, 1/20 at the Red House Tavern in Canton, MD. It's a great new place, no cover... What more could you ask for?
Full Moon Saloon - December 19, 2005
Just wanted to thank everyone for coming out to Frazier's in Hampden last Friday. We had a blast and really enjoyed the music from Capture the Flag. These guys are great. We will be down at the Full Moon Saloon this Wed. Hope to see some of you there.
Victory - December 14, 2005
Thanks to everyone who performed at the open mic contest in Philly on Monday. We had a great time and heard some awesome music. Marwood and strange Todd were great. We did win the contest and will be back at the World Cafe Live on January 6 to compete in the next round. Yes, we are ridiculously excited. See you soon!

Hello everyone. While we're getting set up for te Frazier's show on the 16th, We will be headed up to a competition at the World Cafe Live in Philly. If any of you TBUB fans are in the area on Monday night, come on by and show some support. Otherwise, we'll catch you next Fri. in Hampden.
Frazier's 12/16 - November 23, 2005
Thanks to everyone who came out to support us at the open mic battle at the 8x10. We had a great night and can't wait to get back there. Up next for TBUB is a night at Frazier's on the Avenue on Fri. Dec. 16. Former members of The Tenderloin, Tim Byrne and Jeff Crawford will be opening the night with their new project, Capture the Flag. It's gonna be a real treat. We'll see you there... Thanks again for all the support
Open Mic Contest - November 18, 2005
We stopped by the open mic at the 8x10 last Monday and were asked back to compete for some free studio time and a sweet gig as an opener for a national touring act. We would like to win solely on the merit of our music, but the real world responds to an applausometer, so we would love some support from everyone. Thanks again to the 8x10 for asking us back. See you there.
Mojo Room on Belair Rd - October 15, 2005
There is some good stuff going on at the Mojo. If you're headed there to see a band, and you get there early, you're gonna catch a DJ spinning records to the directors cut of Easy Rider. If you show up on Tuesday, you get dinner, a show, and a movie. On occassion, I'm told that the Baltimore womens roller-derby team meets to discuss thier organizational happenings. Chuck (of the Expotentials) or Paul ( of Dark Water Transit) will be serving you behind the bar. We like it. You might.
Thanks to Jimmy Flame and the SexXy boys for coming all the way from Seattle and showing us a thing or two about a thing or two.
Block Party - October 2, 2005
Thanks to everyone for coming out to the first annual Anne St. block party. We all had a great time. We also want to thank the Jaded Saints for hanging out playing such a great set.
In other news, we would like to congratulate our friends, the Grilled Lincolons, on their victory at the Lodge Bar's Battle of the Bands. These guys are damn good and deserve it.
We, the Brass Uncle Band, are currently lining up some more gigs, so keep posted....
Developements?... - September 17, 2005
We are very excited to be headed back to beautiful West Virginia soon to do some more work with the Lunar Stewdio team of Alan Risinger and Jeff Kauffman. These guys are gonna take us back to another planet. We are also pumped about next weekend's Fell's Point street party on the 200 block of Ann St. This is sure to be a full day of beer, BBQ, and beer, so come on by. We are also gonna be doing a gig at the Mojo Room on Thursday. Duke set this up with Chuck from the Expotentials, so that should also be a beer oriented event. We'll do our best to keep you informed, and in the meantime, I need to figure out how to spell Fender Rhodes?.
